In the morning, PAOK released this following statement in connection with the signing of Stoch:

“PAOK FC announces the transfer of Miroslav Stoch from Slavia Prague. The Slovak winger, who returns to Thessaloniki after five years, signed a three-year contract.”

Reports stated that PAOK paid Slavia Prague 1.5 million euros in order to sign Stoch.

Stoch, 29, previously played for PAOK in the 2013/2014 season on loan from Fenerbahce. In that particular campaign, the talented Slovakian winger became a fan favourite in Thessaloniki, talling 10 goals and 10 assists across all competitions.

In the 2018/2019 season, Stoch was in superb form for Slavia Prague in the Czech Republic, helping the club claim both the domestic championship and the cup by gaining 14 goals and 13 assists. Slavia also reached the quarter-finals of the UEFA Europa League.

Stoch spoke to PAOK after the transfer was confirmed:

“I am happy to be back. In comparison to when I was last here, I only know Dimitris Pelkas, and back then he was a young guy. I had been in contact with PAOK for around two months before my family and I decided to go for it. So far, Greece is the only country where I am yet to win a trophy in my career, so hopefully we can change that. The UEFA Champions League? Yes, it will be difficult, but I hope we can do it. I remember that the atmosphere here is crazy.”

Douglas Augusto, joining PAOK from Corinthians in Brazil, will be unveiled on Monday.

As previously reported on AGONAsport, 40-year-old Abel Ferreira will replace Razvan Lucescu as PAOK head coach, but he will sign his contract in the Netherlands instead of Thessaloniki.

PAOK will be holding their first training camp of the summer on Dutch territory.

This afternoon, Sport FM reported that PAOK have paid two million euros in order to cancel Ferreira’s current contract at SC Braga, where he has been coaching since April 2017.

Since Ferreira ended his playing career in 2011, he has coached in the youth systems of Sporting Lisbon and Braga, becoming the head coach of the latter’s first team in 2017. Overall, the Portuguese manager has overseen 102 matches with SC Braga, gaining a points-per-game average of 1.96.

Upon the completion of his PAOK contract, Yevhen Shakhov has decided to leave the Dikefalos tou Vorra, signing a two-year deal with Lecce.

Lecce confirmed his signing with this statement:

“U.S. Lecce confirms that it has acquired the rights of football player Yevhen Shakhov, who played with PAOK Thessaloniki in the previous season. The Ukrainian midfielder signed a two-year contract with an extension option for one year. “

Shakhov spent three successful years in Thessaloniki after transferring from Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk in July 2016, winning the Greek Cup three times and the 2018/2019 Super League title. In the previous campaign, the 28-year-old made 40 appearances across all competitions, scoring five goals and dishing out two assists.

Super League newcomers, Volos NFC, have secured the services of struggling striker Giannis Mystakidis and young right-back Eleftherios Lyratzis on loan deals for the 2019/2020 season.

Last season, Mystakidis was initially loaned out to PAS Giannina in the Super League, but it didn’t work out and he subsequently moved to Gornik Zabrze in Poland. Nevertheless, the 24-year-old forward failed to make an impression there either, and he will now aim to get his career back on track with newly promoted Volos.

Lyratzis, 19, is a talented right-back and has been loaned to Volos for game practice at the highest level in Greece.

Goalkeeper Nikos Melissas has signed a new contract with PAOK which will see the 26-year-old remain in Thessaloniki for another three years.

PAOK published this statement on their official website:

“PAOK FC announces the renewal of Nikos Melissas’ contract through to 2022. His very good performances in recent years have given him another chance at the Toumba Stadium.”

Melissas has been loaned out on several occasions after progressing through the PAOK system. During the 2018/2019 season, Melissas played in 16 games for Lamia in all tournaments, conceding 20 goals and gaining four clean sheets. He will be third choice in Thessaloniki behind Alexandros Paschalakis and Zivko Zivkovic.
