Goals from Ukrainian midfielder Yevhen Shakhov, Moroccan midfielder Omar El Kaddouri and Serbian striker Aleksandar Prijović completed a comfortable win for Razvan Lucescu’s title contenders, who still harbour hopes of winning the title despite several legal cases pending against them which will see them deducted points.

There was a consolation for Michalis Grigoriou’s poorly performing Panthers late on, with Fiorin Durmishaj scoring a superb long-range strike with 13 minutes left.

The result means PAOK move one point ahead of AEK at the top with a total of 58 points collected, but this will likely change when the legal cases against them for the abandoned matches against Olympiacos and AEK are completed.

For the record, AEK can retake the leadership when they visit bottom-of-the-table Platanias on Sunday.

On their return to action after the mini-break for the Greek Orthodox Easter period, PAOK showed from the kick-off that their were eager to assert their authority on this one-sided matchday 27 encounter.

The hosts were ahead after just two minutes when Vieirinha’s corner found its way to Shakhov, wh prodded the ball home past a helpless Panionios goalkeeper Matic Kotnik.

PAOK doubled the advantage just 13 minutes later with a slick move which ended in Robert Mak crossing for El Kaddouri to fire the ball home and it seemed that PAOK may run away with the match.

Panionios managed to respond and stem the flow of attacks from the home side, but their defence was breached again six minutes after the hour mark when Prijovic tapped home to finish off a superb 11-pass move which started from the PAOK backline.

The home side seemed to step off the gas after that goal and that allowed Panionios to get a goal through Durmishaj’s impressive strike, but there was no question of the visitors getting more than that.
