PAOK given ‘green light’ to lift Super League trophy at Toumba on Sunday
If PAOK claim at least one point against Levadiakos, they will be crowned champions of the Super League and will lift the cup in front of their passionate supporters on Sunday.
During Tuesday’s Super League Board of Directors meeting, PAOK were given the ‘green light’ to lift the 2019 Super League trophy at the Toumba Stadium after Sunday’s clash against Levadiakos. The Dikefalos tou Vorra need just one point against Levadiakos to claim the 2019 Super League title and if they record at least a draw on Sunday, they will lift the long awaited title in front of their passionate supporters.
According to the rulebooks, the Super League trophy must be lifted on or after the final matchday (PAOK travel away to PAS Giannina on matchday 30), however the books also allow for an exception if the respective club has mathematically claimed the league title ahead of the final matchday. The Super League unanimously voted in favor of PAOK to lift this year’s trophy one round earlier, at home to Levadiakos on Sunday (if PAOK earn at least a point).
PAOK’s inspiring captain, Adelino Vieirinha, will be present on Sunday despite suffering a terrible injury in last week’s match away to Larissa. The Portuguese star will be the first to lift the trophy in what is expected to be an electrifying atmosphere at the Toumba stadium in Thessaloniki.
