PAOK interested in Swiderski and Misic, El Kaddouri linked with loan
According to various reports, Polish striker Karol Swiderski is close to joining PAOK, midfielder Josip Misic could sign for the Greeks, and Omar El Kaddouri is being linked with a move to Parma.
After the departure of Aleksandar Prijovic, PAOK were initially heavily linked with Marcus Berg and Leo Bonatini, but negotiations failed to result in either of the two transferring to Thessaloniki. As a result, the Super League leaders have now turned their attentions to Polish forward Karol Swiderski, who currently represents Jagiellonia Bialystok in the Ekstraklasa.
In the past couple of days, reports in the media have suggested that a fee of two million euros has been agreed between PAOK and Jagiellonia, however now it’s down for Swiderski to decide where he wants to continue his career. The promising 21-year old supposedly has offers from PAOK and Genoa to weigh up, and interest is also forthcoming from VfB Stuttgart with the Germans poised to make a bid in the near future.
This season, Swiderski has made 17 Ekstraklasa appearances for Jagiellonia, contributing with eight goals and one assist. Previously, Swiderski used to be on the books of UKS SMS Lodz, before he moved to Jagiellonia in 2014. He has also represented various Polish youth national teams and is considered a real prospect. His value is rated at 750 thousand euros by Transfermarkt.
INTEREST IN MISIC
Alongside Swiderski, PAOK are also heavily interested in acquiring the services of Croatian midfielder Josip Misic.
In a Super League match against Levadiakos in late 2018, Pontus Wernbloom received a serious, season ending injury, which means PAOK find themselves requiring an extra midfielder to cover the Swede’s loss. Misic, a 24-year old senior Croatian international currently playing for Sporting Lisbon in Portugal, is their main target in the winter transfer window, with PAOK eager to take him on loan for the remainder of the 2018/2019 campaign.
Misic only joined Sporting Lisbon in January 2018, but he’s struggled to make an impact in Portugal, only competing in three domestic championship matches this season. In the past, Misic played for Osijek, Rijeka and Spezia, and he has also participated in two matches with the Croatian national team.
EL KADDOURI CLOSE TO PARMA LOAN
In other news, there is a possibility that Moroccan midfielder Omar El Kaddouri will leave PAOK this winter.
Italian media are reporting that El Kaddouri, 28, will spend the rest of the 2018/2019 season on loan at Parma in Serie A. Having played with Brescia, Sudtirol, Napoli, Torino and Empoli, El Kaddouri has a wealth of experience in Italian football, and he hasn’t enjoyed a lot of success at PAOK since joining in August 2017. However, contrasting reports from Greece state that PAOK aren’t planning on letting El Kaddouri go.
Parma sit in 12th place of Serie A with 25 points in 19 matches. For his part, El Kaddouri has played in 22 matches with PAOK in all competitions this season, popping up with two goals and two assists.
