Trikala defeated Sparti 1-3 on the road to get their 2017/18 Greek Cup campaign off to a great start. The visitors struck early with Tsipras, who scored after two minutes of play, but Sparti balanced out the game and found an equalizer with Ranos seven minutes before the break. However, Trikala came out the better side in the second half and with goals from Golias (62) and Sialmas (87), grabbed all three points to sit atop Group 4 with Atromitos (defeated Kerkyra). Highlights here.

The match between Kissamikos Chania and Acharnaikos was decided in “penalties” as both teams were awarded a spot kick in the 90 minutes of play. However, it was Kissamikos Chania who successfully converted their penalty in the 63rd minute with Xydas to record a 1-0 victory. The visitors had a chance to equalize late in the game, but Becatoros was unable to convert the spot kick. Kissamikos Chania are tied for first in Group 5 along with Olympiacos (defeated Asteras tripolis on Tuesday). Highlights here.

The “derby” between the Superleague’s Panionios and PAS Giannina ended in a 1-1 draw in Nea Smyrni, similar to their league fixture over the weekend. Spiridonovic deservedly gave the hosts the lead in the 21st minute with a well-placed left footed strike. In the second half, PAS Giannina began to instill their pressure as they wasted multiple chances to pull level. However, their attacking play paid off late in the game when Giakos found the back of the net from a narrow angle, salvaging an important point for the Epirotes. The result leaves all things open in Group 7 which also contains Aris and Panegialios (play later today). Highlights here.
