Having long been considered one of Greek football’s hottest prospects, no one had ever doubted Pelkas’ superb ability, but there was doubt surrounding whether the playmaker would ever rise to the next level and realise his potential. If this season is anything to go by, he’s certainly on the right path.

Just to place the cherry on the cake, Pelkas took a leading role in the dramatic 2:0 triumph over AEK Athens in the Greek Cup final, scoring an important second goal to end the Kitrinomavri’s hopes of a double. Earlier in the campaign, the 24-year old took the headlines across Greece, netting two stunners against Panathinaikos in a 4:0 win at the atmospheric Toumba Stadium. Born in Giannitsa, a town not far away from Thessaloniki, Pelkas has a special rapport with PAOK’s supporters and has turned into a real fans’ favourite.

Overall, the midfielder found the net on eight occasions in 24 Super League appearances, contributing with a further eight assists along the way. Pelkas was impressive in the Greek Cup two, registering four goals in 10 matches and helping the Dikefalos tou Vorra win the competition for the second consecutive year.

Pelkas recorded his 100th appearance in a PAOK jersey in all competitions during this season and has become a crucial player in PAOK’s setup. Last year, PAOK rewarded Pelkas’ stunning form as both parties agreed to a contract extension for Pelkas to remain with his childhood club until the summer of 2021.

In a simply incredible season for Pelkas, he played in his 100th match for PAOK, also receiving a contract extension which lasts until June 2021. However, PAOK may have a job holding on to their star man. According to reports in Greece, Turkish giants Besiktas are chasing Pelkas and are focused on signing the Greek during the upcoming summer.
