Peristeri’s perfect start to the Basket League season reached a new level after the promoted side cruised to their seventh straight win thanks to a lopsided victory at the expensive of Kymis. Meanwhile, Rethymno Cretan Kings ended an ugly six-game winless run with an overtime win over Holargos as the Greek top flight played out an interesting Matchday 7 thus far.

Rethymno ended a six-game winless streak to start the season thanks to a strong overtime effort at home against Holargos.

Despite a sluggish start that saw the Cretan Kings fall behind by nine points in the first quarter, Rethymno battled back to pull within two points before halftime. The Cretans would manage to take the lead in the third quarter but Holargos replied in the final frame to force overtime.

A 15-8 run from Rethymno in the extra period paved the way for the home side’s first win of the season with Kevin Bracy-Davis’ 18-point effort a big factor on the night.

Holargos, who are now 2-5 on the season, were led by Jermaine Love’s 15-point outing though the promoted club will rue their mid-game collapse on route to the loss.

A dominant 33-7 run in the first quarter helped Promitheas coast to a massive home win over Kymis as the Patras outfit improved to 5-2 on the season.

Kymis were unable to recover from such a terrible start and the visitors continued to crumble as the game went on with Promitheas atoning for their midweek loss in the Basketball Champions League.

Terell Allen Parks led Promitheas on the night with a 22-point, 12-rebound double-double while Petro Geromichalos added 21 points off 9-for-9 shooting from the field.

Chris Horton led Kymis in the losing effort as the American tallied 14 points as Kymis slumped to their sixth-straight loss.

Peristeri’s impressive start to the season continued on Matchday 7 with a with an impressive win at home against Lavrio as the promoted club extended their perfect start to their campaign to seven games.

A 29-23 run by Lavrio might have suggested that Peristeri would be in for a long evening, but the promoted club rebounded in the second and third quarter to slowly take the lead.

An impressive 26-19 in the final frame would seal the win for Peristeri, who were led by 15-point showings from both Steven Gray and Ryan Harrow. Meanwhile, Lavrio’s struggles away from home continued with their third road loss this season despite a 20-point showing from Doron Lamb.

AEK improved their domestic winning streak to three games and to six games in all competitions as the Athenians cruised to a comfortable win at home against Ifaistos Limnou.

Giannoulis Larentzakis tallied 16 points to lead the way for AEK, who are now 5-2 on the season following their latest coup.

Despite hanging around for most of the game, Ifaistos were slow to start in the second half as AEK quickly opened up a double-digit gap.

Sean Evans led Ifaistos with a near double-double as the American big man managed 21 points and 9 rebounds, but Ta Sfyra couldn’t pull-off back-to-back to wins after last week’s triumph against PAOK.
