Samaras refuses to claim debts owed by Samsunspor
Samsunspor striker Georgios Samaras recently showed his class off the pitch, refusing to claim debts owed to him by the club after the Turks suffered relegation from the second division.

33-year old Samaras, who earned 81 caps for the Greek national team back in his prime, is now playing his football in the Turkish second division with Samsunspor, but the club were relegated from the league after finishing in 16th position with a mere 36 points. Just to make matters worse, Samsunspor face the threat of liquidation due to cripping financial issues, but Samaras has done his bit to help save the club.
All of Samsunspor’s players are owed debt from the club after not being paid for months on end, but Samaras has refused to claim the money, stating that he doesn’t deserve to be paid for the season. The Greek gave permission for Samsunspor to keep his outstanding wages, an action which only a few of his teammates supported.
Samaras made 25 appearances during Samsunspor’s fateful season, scoring two goals and dishing out two assists. The forward is now out of contract and searching for a new club.
