AEK have a tricky trip to Livadeia on the horizon on Sunday as they try to keep the top spot in the Greek Super League. Matchday 13 does not provide a big derby, but there are some intriguing fixtures in the round still. The AGONAsport Match of the week sees Panathinaikos welcome Panionios.

Levadiakos have been in a bit of slump since starting the season in superb form. They are now on a four-match winless run after beginning the campaign with an undefeated record through the first eight matches.

AEK will want the three points to keep Olympiacos at bay. Currently a point behind, the Erythrolefki are beginning to find their form after a slow start. They face off against Apollon Smirnis in Saturday’s late match at the Karaiskakis Stadium in Piraeus.

On Saturday, surging Asteras Tripolis begin the weekend by hosting Kerkyra. After a tough start to their campaign, Asteras have been firing on all cylinders recently and have climbed to 7th in the table. Kerkyra are already looking like relegation candidates as they sit second from the bottom in the Super League.

It will be 5th against 3rd when Xanthi play host to PAOK, also on Saturday. PAOK have not won an away match all season and if they are not to fall by the wayside in the title race that will have to change. Xanthi are looking like real contenders for Europe and a win against the Thessaloniki giants would be a big boost to their hopes.

The early Sunday match-up is perhaps the week’s most interesting fixture and is the AGONAsport Match of the Week. Panathinaikos welcome Panionios in a fixture pitting two sides currently in some trouble. Financial difficulties have meant Panathinaikos are undergoing a very difficult campaign. The team’s home form has been very good so they need to maximize that advantage this weekend. Panionios began the current season looking very good before a spate of injuries coincided with an extremely difficult part of their fixture list.

Also on Sunday, Lamia and Panetolikos lock horns in a lower midtable meeting. Lamia are on 14 points, one more than Panetolikos currently. Lamia’s main goal is certainly to avoid relegation in their first-ever top-flight season while Panetolikos are looking for midtable consolidation as quickly as possible.

It’s Thessaly against Epirus when Larisa and PAS Giannina play at the AEL FC Arena. Larisa lost last weekend to Panetolikos after winning three of their previous four. They haven’t quite convinced they are above a relegation battle, while PAS are still to show evidence they are battling for anything more than a place in the middle of the pack.

Finally on Monday, Atromitos look to get back to winning ways with an away trip to bottom side Platanias. Atromitos’ schedule has been extremely challenging over the last month, but they remain within striking distance of the top of the standings. Platanias meanwhile need to start picking up points. Even at this early stage of the season they are a full seven points from safety and look the biggest favorites for the drop.
