Struggling Iraklis in trouble, AOX Kissamikos shock Apollon Larissas

Iraklis tasted yet another defeat in Sunday, falling to local rivals Apollon Pontou 0:2. Ergotelis came from behind to defeat Panachaiki while Apollon Larissas were handed a shock 0:3 loss to AOX Kissamikos. Platanias were big winners over fellow Cretans, Irodotos.

Iraklis’ horrible season continued on Sunday as local rivals, Apollon Pontou, came away with 0:2 victory at the Kaftanzoglio stadium. The visitors netted two late, first half-goals through Amarantidis (41) and Kyvelidis (44) to secure the three points. Manuel Roca, who replaced former technician Dimitris Eleftheropoulos, will have plenty of work to do as Iraklis now sit in 11th place and just one point clear of the drop zone with 10 points. Apollon Pontou moved up to sixth with 14 points.

Ergotelis ended their four game winless streak with a thrilling come from behind victory to defeat struggling Panachaiki 2:1. The visitors opened the scoring early on with Eleftheriadis’ second minute, free-kick goal, but the Cretan side found the back of the net twice within the final ten minutes. Kwateng struck first on 80 minutes before Kapnidis’ first touch on the ball completed the comeback for the hosts. Ergotelis move up to fourth with 17 points while Panachaiki are further back on 12 points.

Apollon Larissas were handed a surprise 0:3 loss at home to strugglers AOX Kissamikos. Riski was the man of the match, netting all three goals for the visitors. He opened the scoring in the 19th minute and twelve minutes later, doubled the Cretans’ lead. Riski completed the hattrick eigth minutes from the end to give AOX Kissamikos a much needed three points in their fight to avoid the drop. On the other hand, Apollon Larissas now sit eight points behind leaders, Volos NFC, with 20 points.

In other action, Platanias were big 5:1 winners over fellow Cretan side, Irodotos, and moved into third place in the standings with 19 points. Aittitos Spaton celebrated their second win of the campaign after dispatching Doxa Drama 2:0. In a relegation six pointer, Trikala defeated Aiginiakos 2:0 and moved out of the drop zone while AE Karaiskakis and Sparti played to a goalless draw.
