Having joined Premier League club Arsenal from PAS Giannina with much promise in January last year and earning rave reviews following his league debut, the Athens-born centre-back must have expected a lot more playing time than he wound up with.

However, despite a promising start and three appearances last season, which quickly endeared him with Gunners fans, the talented young defender has struggled with injury problems.
