Olympiacos were defeated by Anadolu Efes 71-73 in game 2 of the Euroleague playoffs and will need to win at least one game in Turkey to stay alive in the best of five series.
In today’s game 2, Olympiacos were unable to match their dominating display in game 1, with neither team being able to pull comfortably ahead in the score. The Erythrolefki did manage to increase their lead to 7 points (65-58) five minute before the end, however the visitors responded to grab the important away win.
Efes were exceptional on both ends of the court to go an 8-0 run and take the lead at 65-66. With the score tied at 69-69, Printezis put Olympiacos ahead 71-69 with 1:34 remaining, but a 4-0 run from Efes gave them the 71-73 victory. During the final minute, Printezis went 0/2 from the free throw line and Green failed to hit what would have been a game-winning three-pointer at the buzzer.
The Olympiacos captains, Spanoulis and Printezis each finished with 20 points while Milutinov did not play in the second half due to an injury. Dunston and Honeycutt were the best players for the visitors.
Olympiacos will now need to win at least one game in Turkey to stay alive in the series. Game 3 will take place on Wednesday.
