Torosidis and Kourbelis ruled out for upcoming qualifiers
Greece will be without their captain Vassilis Torosidis and Panathinaikos man Dimitris Kourbelis for the upcoming qualifiers against Estonia and Belgium.
Michael Skibbe will be without Vassilis Torosidis and Dimitris Kourbelis for Greece’s 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Estonia on August 31st and Belgium on September 3rd. Vassilis Torosidis suffered an injury in Bologna’s weekend fixture in Italy and was subbed off just before halftime. Kourbelis has been troubled by an injury, which saw him miss Panathinaikos’ fixture against Levadiakos on Sunday, and will not recover in time for Greece’s qualifiers.
Greece’s #2 goalkeeper, Stefanos Kapino, has a knee problem and is likely to miss Greece’s first qualifier against Estonia. Sokratis Papastathopoulos, who is suspended for the qualifier against Estonia, will arrive in Greece on Thursday to join the rest of the team while the injured Kostas Mitroglou, will arrive in Greece on Tuesday. Mitroglou will surely miss the qualifier against Estonia, however he will undergo a recovery program with hopes of being fit for Sunday’s all-important fixture against the group leaders, Belgium.
