Aris pulled off a tremendous comeback in Crete, coming from two-goals behind to defeat Ergotelis 2-3. It was Cuypers who gave Ergotelis the lead in the 14th minute before Stamatakos doubled the hosts’ lead nine minutes later. Down 2-0 at the break, the visitors were left with an uphill battle in the second half. Dounis sparked hoped in the Aris side with his 53rd minute goal and Diamantopoulos’ successful penalty brought the Thessalonikis level 13 minutes before the end. The comeback was complete just two minutes from time, when Platellas scored the winner to keep Aris’ perfect start to the Football League season. The Kitrinomavri sit first in the standings with 12 points from four matches and are beginning to look as the heavy favorites to gain promotion at the end of the season.

Panachaiki dropped their first points of the season after playing to a goalless draw at home with AOX Kissamikos. The team from Patra have another difficult test in the next round of matches when they travel to Thessaloniki to face league leaders Aris in the weekend’s derby.

OFI, who are also contesting promotion, also played to a goalless draw over the weekend in an away clash against Trikala. The result leaves the Cretan club four points behind Aris and two points behind second placed Panachaiki and Doxa Dramas.

Doxa Dramas moved into second spot, tied with Panachaiki on 10 points, after a narrow 0-1 win on the road over struggling Kallithea. Litskas’s 31st minute goal separated the sides at the final whistle.

Karaiskakis also recorded an important victory on Sunday as they defeated Sparti 2-1. The newly promoted side took a 2-0 lead with goals from Houssos (18) and Kyriakis (37) and held on for the three points despite a late first half goal from Sparti’s Ranos. Karaiskakis sit in fourth with nine points, just three points from the top of the table.

In other action, Apollon Pontou defeated Anagennisi Karditsas 2-0 thanks to goals in either half from Brito (15) and Chasomeris (75), while Apollon Larissas recorded their first win of the season with an emphatic 3-0 beating of Panserraikos. Aiginiakos and Panegialios played to a 1-1 draw.

Veria were awarded all three points against Acharnaikos, who have withdrawn from the league.
