Tripolis Fight Back to Salvage a Point
GREEK SUPERLEAGUE - MATCHDAY 26
|Panetolikos||1 - 1||Asteras Tripolis|
|Rey 4'||Mazza 69'|
Argentine midfielder Pablo Mazza struck a second-half equaliser as Asteras Tripolis rescued what may prove to be a vital point in a 1-1 draw at Panaitolikos as the Arcadian club’s battle to avoid the drop took a positive turn.
Things had not looked so bright for Tripolis at the start of this evenly-matched SuperLeague Matchday 26 clash in Agrinio, especially after Spanish midfielder Alvero Rey’s fourth-minute opener for Panaitolikos.
But Tripolis never gave up, and after keeping the home side at bay for long spells with a well-drilled defence, Mazza struck in the 69th minute to level the match.
The result allowed Tripolis to move four points clear of the relegation places in 13th spot, while Panaitolikos remained in 11th place with 28 points.
