Volos NFC continued their good form with a 2:1 win over Panachaiki while Iraklis recorded a second consecutive victory after dispatching Ergotelis. Platanias, Kerkyra, Doxa Dramas, Apollon Pontou, and AOX Kissamikos were also victorious over the weekend in the Football League.

Iraklis recorded their second consecutive victory after defeating Ergotelis 2:1. Dunis took advantage of an Ergotelis mistake and opened the scoring for the hosts in the 23rd minute. Ergotelis responded with an equalizer through Mazoulouxi’s headed efforrt late in the first half as the two sides went into the break level. However, Iraklis had the last laugh with Perone heading home a Bourselis’ corner in the 83rd minute to give the hosts another much needed victory. Iraklis moved up to 16 points, well clear of the relegation zone, just one point behind Ergotelis.

Current league leaders, Volos NFC, increased their unbeaten run to 11 game with a 2:1 win over Panachaiki. Galitsios opened the scoring on the quarter hour mark before Bastakos brought things square in first half stoppage time for Panachaiki. After a second half dominated by Volos with many wasted chances, Mantzis finally broke the deadlock with a headed goal one minute from time. The win keeps Volos eight points clear of second placed Apollon Larissas while Panachaiki sit further back with just 15 points.

In other action, last year’s Super League sides, Platanias and Kerkyra, recorded comfortable wins against Aiginiakos (3:0) and Irodotos (0:2). Kerkyra sit in third with 23 points while Platanias are one point behind in fourth place. Doxa Dramas gained breathing room from the drop zone with a 2:0 win over Sparti, who currently sit in the final relegation spot in 13th. AOX Kissamikos moved into safety with a 0:1 win on the road over last placed Aittitos Spaton. Apollon Pontou were victorious away to AE Karaiskakis 0:2 and climbed further up the table into sixth with 17 points.

Trikala host second placed Apollon Larissas on Monday.
