Vouliagmeni stun Olympiacos in Game 2
Vouliagmeni came from behind to beat Olympiacos on penalties in Game 2 of the A1 Water Polo League finals, handing the Erythrolefki their first loss in league play in over six years.
After winning Game 1, Olympiacos found themselves up 2-1 after the first period of play and 4-2 at halftime. Hosts Vouliagmeni came back to reduce Olympiacos’ lead to just 5-4 after the third period. They would then go up 6-5, but the Erythrolefki would level it at 6-6 by the end of regulation.
In the penalties, Vouliagmeni prevailed 3-2 to win Game 2 9-8 and level the League Finals series at 1-1. Andrija Basic led Vouliagmeni offensively with three goals, while Christos Afroudakis and Emmanouil Solanakis each scored two goals as well. On the other hand, Emmanouil Mylonakis led Olympiacos with three goals, and Andro Buslje also scored two for the visitors.
Game 3 will take place on May 25, and will be a home game for Olympiacos. Olympiacos are looking for their seventh consecutive and 33rd overall league title. On the other hand, Vouliagmeni are looking for their fifth overall league, and first since 2012. All games are being broadcasted by ERT.
